Singin' In The Rain
I can’t draw non-living(or in-animated) things very well. Trees have only recently become less of a problem(although I never practice) and any sort of landscapes, buildings, or non-robotic vehicles etc have always been difficult for me. Largely because I refuse to practice and get distracted with all the ideas for LIVING characters and creatures I have.
But one of my best friends has an old rickety muscle car that I really like. It’s got charm. I drew a taxi right once before it, but my biggest issue with non-living objects is that I can’t imagine how to translate them properly into my style. I can’t decide what details to leave out and what details to scew and accentuate.
Anyway, I started practicing drawing her car, and I really like this style. I’ve done a little practice since, but I feel like this is how I see cars. (I feel a rant coming!) I’ve been around people who take a lot of interest in this stuff all my life, but I never really understood or took an interest in it. My dad worked on cars, my uncle does it, my stepdad did it and loves Beetles. I don’t really understand or like machines much. I’ve never known how to ride a bike(although now I’m sure I could learn, I just don’t have much interest in it,) and I don’t understand cars or how they work. So I feel like THIS is how I see cars. This is how they work to me. A big flashy body(I do really like the shape of muscle cars) with magic floating wheels that make it go! I dunno. I lost focus of this rant at some point. Hopefully it means something.
