I’m on a roll, HAVE A GIGAS. Next Subhuman monster class. Gigas, Giant, Yeti, Sasquatch, Colossus, things like that. They can have a lot of facial variety, so this is only one kind. This is an early concept, so I’ve got some newer stuff I’m working along with some more goblin and troll stuff. After all that I’ll show some of the demon classes(main three being Imps, Gargoyles, and Ogres.)
Prairie again. Her foot is gigantic. There’s some changes to her outfit here. Figured I’d post this before I changed it again. Pose is random.
Amadeus again. Scythes are fun times. Especially ones that can tear the fabric of reality! (Which I guess is sorta memetic by now, but eh.)
My Red marker started drying out here, and I’m freaking out about it. I use red alot for some reason…
I dropped the ball on the monsters, so let’s get this going again.
Now we’ve got TROLLS. I like the gorilla-esque posture. They’re pretty peaceful unless provoked, but not that smart. They ended up looking like Gorons after awhile, which I don’t really have a problem with. Might add some tattoos or texture to them later. Trying to balance out the simplicity and complexity here.
DODOS! Uhm…They’re faces come off when they’re surprised. That’s funny to me. Also a fish guy. I might get more into this later.
Long and short of it: Protagonists(2) grow up on an island almost entirely inhabited by Dodo people. They aren’t Dodo people, and this has an effect on both of them in different ways, because Dodos were very gullible, trusting, and incapable. One of the characters embraces this(besides the incapable part) and he develops from there, while the other exploits this and is kind of a jerk.
So yes. That was cryptic and unnecessary. Thanks for reading!
Also: I’m adding some basic lazy color onto some of my posts now, so it’s something more to look at…I guess.
Alright it’s been awhile. Back to the monsters.
Introducing our first of the beastmen/subhuman class(I’m leaning towards the name subhuman, but I somehow need to be able to justify calling all the non-strictly-human races of people human somehow. They operate like humans, just look like…birds and stuff.) I’m rambling. First, Goblins, then Orcs. Pig-orcs are kind of a repeated thing, but I like it. These two are kind of the epitome of the expected designs for their species, which I have mixed feelings about. In some ways I want the designs to be completely original new ideas, but I also want them to be familiar. Sometimes things are called goblins and they don’t feel like goblins at all. I don’t want to do that either.
I’m rambling. These are colored badly. I like the lines.
Today we have designs I’m going to change or already did, but scanned before I realized I was changing them.
So we have Jels, which are your basic Flan, Slime, Chu, Sluggy… Grimer… etc. type guys. I just changed them last night because I realized I have too many “round guy with one thing sprouting out of his head” type enemies. I guess I just like the way it looks, two is weird if they aren’t horns cuz’ most of the time they’d look like dog ears or something, and three things just feel tacked on… but I don’t like bald plain heads either. It’s a struggle.
Then we have ghosts(I’ll think of a better name) which have had some additions since, but I still really like this initial design. They have this really fun gimmick where they attach themselves to people’s heads like a hat to possess them(and they can be invisible so it isn’t completely obvious.)
Lastly, we’ve got a bat…keese…swooper…I’ll stop. Probably won’t change this too much, but I recently noticed how bats’ limb structures work so I’m looking to amend that. It’s like they have legs for arms and arms for legs, it’s crazy! It also has the one tuft of hair thing going…I can’t help it.
Next time, stuff I don’t have the proper colors for so it ruined the lineart! WOO!
DAWWW aren’t they cute? They’re like huggable little marshmallows…

…Unless they’re hungry!
This is probably my favorite monster. It’s called a Surfeit(as in, an abundance of cuteness, or when it’s like this, food.) The original idea was to make it like a Scarfy from Kirby which originally inspired the “eye” in it’s mouth(It’s convex but it’s not an eye.) When it gets hungry or upset, it’s mouth opens, pushing its eyes to the side, and it’s esophagus prolapses so it can just run up and swallow things whole with ease(sort of…) The appearance of its mouth is used to confuse and terrify its victims. Its body(or at least the yellow variant’s) takes on a reddish palette from its blood heating up. I know it’s fur, but yeah. And their ears are actually arms.
